Is long term memory subject to change?

Is long term memory reshaped by our experiences or does it resist modification?

I think that your long term memory itself probably doesn’t change, only your retrieval and interpretation of the said memory.

The reason I don’t think its possible for memories to change is primarily based on the theory of the “engram”, which is the biological change that accompanies encoding of all information.

From experience and from what I know thats a hard question to answer. Your memory of a car is in your long term memory because you see it every single day. But as the years go by and as technology advances a car might be able to collapse into your hand making it easier to park and thereby reshaping your long term memory. when we think of cell phones we no longer think of a giant motorola brick but small hand held device that fits in a small pocket so by that yes your long term memory is reshaped by our experiences everyday.
